(Chris & Kenny-Gras' Rating: 3 Tubs Buttered Popcorn)
On DVD comes the eagerly anticipated arrival of Hot Fuzz and it has burst through the door and it looks (I'm speaking like an Englishman here) bloody brilliant, with the Shaun of the Dead stars kicking butt and laying down the law.
Nicholas Angel (Simon Pegg, who thanks to BBC America I found is a big time star of sitcoms like Seinfeld was to us) is a supercop, so good he makes his co workers look bad, resulting in Angel being reassigned to the dull village of Sandford. With crime on a low and only his new partner Danny Butterman (Nick Frost, another heavyweight sitcom star across the pond) to work with, it seems Angel will find it very hard to adapt to his calm little town-or so he thinks.
When a series of 'accidental' deaths occur that seem all too strange to Angel, he and his partner set out on a major investigation to uncover the truth and the truth is really a zinger!
Now what I have to say first hand about seeing this DVD is that if you go into it thinking that it's going to be another 'Shaun', you're not going in with the right mindset. I did that and I regret it. This is a buddy-buddy cop movie like 'Lethal Weapon'. if you expect a bunch of zombies to come after Angel & Danny, you're wrong.

Looking at it as a buddy-cop movie from the beginning (as I did the second time I saw it) you will enjoy it immensely. One thing that is common in both movies is the quick camera movement going from scene to scene. This was done very well in 'Shaun' and works well here too. One thing I did miss from 'Shaun' was when Nick Frost would get that inappropriate phone call and answering with "two seconds" and "I got nothin'"...priceless.
Also, without ruining it for anyone, the appearance 1/4 of the movie in of a new player adds suspense and a little chill to the film. If anyone was asking, 'Fuzz' also brings back the wonderful Bill Nighy (who played Shaun's stepdad in 'Shaun of the Dead' and Davy Jones in 'Pirates of the Caribbean II & III') in a small cameo as well as Penelope Wilton who played Shaun's mother.
Another great player in this film is former James Bond 007 himself Timothy Dalton, who is doing a great job for himself after Bond just like Pierce Bronson is. The long & short of it is that this is a great film and a must for any DVD collection. There's action, suspense, and of course...comedy. I would say that Pegg & Frost are the newest great team in entertainment just like Abbott & Costello, Hope & Crosby, Martin & Lewis, Chris & Kenny, etc. and this movie definitely helps cement that claim.
"What's your opinion....we'd like to know."

Talk about an instant classic, Shaun of the Dead was one of them.
I loved that movie and still watch it from time to time, so when I heard they where making Hot Fuzz, I was counting down the day I would own it.
Great post Mr. Kenny
